What makes EFAC-USA distinct from other Anglican or evangelical networks already in the U.S.?
EFAC-USA is the American branch of a global fellowship of Anglicans committed to biblical faith, gospel mission, and mutual encouragement. Our focus is on connecting Anglicans who share evangelical convictions across dioceses and jurisdictions, providing fellowship and resources that are both local and international. This dual emphasis gives EFAC a unique role in strengthening evangelical identity within the Anglican tradition.

What Do We Mean by “Evangelical”?
The word evangelical comes from the Greek euangelion, “good news.” In the Anglican tradition, it describes Christians who are centered on the gospel of Jesus Christ and shaped by five convictions:a. the authority of Scripture as God’s trustworthy Word,
b. the centrality of the cross for salvation,
c. the call to personal conversion and new life in Christ,
d. the priority of mission in sharing the gospel, and
e. the biblical grounding of the Anglican formularies, as we seek to work and worship in their light as congruent with Scripture, which we seek to uphold and apply to today’s church and world.
We recognize that in today’s American context, the word evangelical is often associated with politics or cultural divides. For EFAC-USA, however, it is not that. Rather, it is a spiritual identity—historic, global, and gospel-centered within Anglicanism, rooted in Scripture, faithful tradition consistent with Scripture, and mission.

How will local fellowships actually function—and what’s expected if I join or help lead one?
Local fellowships are meant to be simple, relational gatherings of clergy and lay leaders for prayer, encouragement, and collaboration in ministry. Participation might involve attending periodic meetings, sharing resources, or praying together for the mission. Volunteer coordinators help bring people together, but the emphasis is on connection rather than creating heavy organizational structures.

What theological commitments shape EFAC-USA, and how broadly or narrowly are these defined?
EFAC-USA is rooted in the EFAC Statement of Faith and Aims, which affirm the authority of Scripture, the uniqueness of Christ, and the necessity of the gospel. We welcome Anglicans/Episcopalians from across jurisdictions who share these evangelical convictions, while recognizing that fellowship is enriched by diversity of ministry context and background. Our goal is to be both faithful to Scripture and open in fellowship. John Stott, who founded EFAC, discouraged what he called “hyphenated” evangelicalism, holding particular emphases beyond the original simplicity. EFAC-USA is a “big tent,” and varied approaches among members are to be expected.
-
What kind of support—spiritual, relational, or practical—can I expect if I get involved?
Members of EFAC-USA can expect encouragement in their own walk with Christ and in their ministry through prayer, fellowship, and shared resources. Local fellowships provide relational support, while national and global connections offer a wider sense of belonging and inspiration. We believe that strengthening one another in gospel faithfulness benefits both congregations and the wider church.

How is EFAC-USA connected to the global EFAC movement, and what opportunities exist for international fellowship and mission?
EFAC-USA is one branch of the worldwide Evangelical Fellowship in the Anglican Communion, which has a presence in many provinces around the globe. We are represented on the global EFAC Council. This connection allows members in the U.S. to participate in a much larger fellowship through publications, conferences, and mission partnerships. Being part of EFAC-USA means sharing in a global evangelical Anglican witness.
